Most definitely a son of W. H. Whitside and a brother of James,
Sam, Sarian & David listed with them in family bible in same
hand as the others. Wm. Sr. father B. 1809 followed by James,
1831, Wm. Jr. 1833, David, 1835 Sam, 1839, and Sarian in 1840.
These are children by Wm. Sr. 1st marriage to Martha Murray.
CEN: 1851 CENSUS 18 Years of age, married, living Norwich, labourer,
Baptist, home 1A Dist #7 Walsingham, living in a boarding house
in Norwich with Peter Sheltrand, listed here as Joshua. No further
record Norfolk Census of 1861/71/91. Moved away?
CEN: 1852, Walsingham Tsp., Norfolk Co., Page 150 or 115,"Joshua
Whitside, labourer, born Canada, Baptist, age 18." NOTE:
same age as 1851 census and states born in Canada but I believe
born in Ireland. Someone other than Wm. Joshua may have given
information for census.
M: See daughter's documentation re her father being William Whitside.
Ages fit, he would have been in his 30's when daughter born and
in 50's when she married.
Was this the Whitside son who settled in the Oxford County area?

From marriage record on page 103 of book 10 of Vital Statistics
of Waterford and Townsend between 1875 & 1899 shows marriage
of Hattie Whitside to William Matthew on Dec 27/1887, states parents
were William & Jane Whitside. Estimate birth date before 18
plus age 21 of bride.
