1. Carrie May Whitside1
was born about 1868. She appeared on the census in 1881 in Middleton
Tsp, Norfolk, ONT. She was educated at Moulton College between
1885 and 1887 in Woodstock, Ont. She was buried in
Hamilton, Ont. She is buried in the Hamilton Cemetery, section
Y, lot 118. She died in Hamilton, Ont. She has
reference number 3100.
BIRTH: In a search of Vital Statistics from 1869 forward I could
not find her birth listed therefore I assume she was born in 1868
for which at present we do not have data.

GENERAL NOTES:
Among the candidates who passed the recent examinations at Aylmer
were two Norfolk County residents.
Carrie Whitside of Delhi, received a second class certificate
and Bruce Wells , Lyndedoch was awarded his University Matriculation.

Freeman principle of the Waterdown High School to Carrie May Whitside,
third daughter of James Whitside Esquire of Delhi.
In a separate write up on the same page the following:
"A pretty wedding " the Delhi correspondent of the St.
Thomas Journal writes: A pretty wedding took place on Thursday,
July 5 at the Baptist Church at 6 o'clock, the contracting parties
Miss Carrie M. Whitside the third daughter of James Whitside,
merchant and J. Freeman principle of Waterdown High School. The
bridesmaids were Maude B. Whitside sister of the bride, Miss Handy
of Glencoe and little Miss Nellie Duncombe maid of Honor. The
groomsmen were Lieut. Billings of London and Mr. Govenlock of
Ingersol.
The Rev. R. J. Treleaven of Aylmer, brother in law of the groom
officiated.
The bride was exquisitely attired in white silk crepon etc. with
proverbial veil and orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of white
roses. Miss Maude Whitside was prettily dressed in mauve pongee
silk and carried pink roses. Etc.
After the ceremony a large number of guest adjourned to The Cedars
the home of the brides mother and partook of the wedding breakfast
while the Citizens Brass Band provided music on the lawn.
The couple left for Toronto, Niagara and other eastern points.
The presents were numerous and costly.
Among the guests were Mrs. Freeman's mother of the groom, from
St. Marys; Dr. and Mrs Clarke, Miss Nettie Clarke, Aylmer; Miss
Macarthur from Markham; Mr and Mrs. E. D. Heath, Mr. A. Heath
and Miss Ada Heath from Bloomsburg.
She was married to John Alexander
Freeman (son of Joshua Freeman and Catherine Brown ) , Delhi, Norfolk, Ont.6 Married by
Rev. R. J. Treleaven, Aylmer, in the Delhi Baptist Church. He
was a brother- in- law of John Freeman.
John Alexander Freeman was born in St Mary's, Perth, Ont.
He was buried in Hamilton, Ont. Hamilton Cemetery,
Hamilton, Ont, Section Y, Lot 118.

OCCUPATION: From the write up of his wedding he is noted as being the principle of the Waterdown High School.

Marjorie.
MARRIAGE: From a letter from Patricia Campbell to R. Whitside
dated Sept. 30, 1993 she states she was married in a double ceremony
with sister Blanche Winnifred Freeman and William Anderson on
Feb 5, 1921. Registration #1921-05-025048

Hannah Marion Marguerite Freeman and William Moss Campbell had

OBITUARY: ANDERSON - Blanche Winnifred Anderson a long time valley
resident, passed away in Drumheller on at the age
of 85 years. She will be badly missed by her two sons, Freeman
and wife, Eunice of Victoria, B.C.; Ian of Calgary and son-in-law,
Norman Skoko of Calgary; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband William in 1958 and son Robert,
in 1978. She was active in the U.C.W. being a member of the Knox
United Church since 1936, a member of the Hospital Axillary and
a charterer member of Lady Willingdon Chapter, I.O.D.E.
Rev. H. Blezard conducted funeral services from Knox United Church
on Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m. with internment in Drumheller Cemetery.

Roswell Park MD. was born in Fisherville, Ont. He died in Hamilton, Ont. He has reference number 2638. He was buried in Hagersville, Ont. Hagersville Cemetery, Hagersville Ont. This is from Patricia Campbell but is not authenticated and does not seem to fit any other data.

Mary (Whitside) Gilbertson advised on Dec. 13/02 that she remembers
that Marjorie was a journalist and had written a book about the
murder of John Dick in Hamilton by his wife Evelyn Dick.
She was married to Robert W. Patterson. My understanding is that this marriage ended in divorce. Robert W. Patterson has reference number 2716. Leslie Marjorie Campbell and Robert W. Patterson had the following children:

2. 1881 Federal census on microfilm. born Ontario, age 12, single,
Baptist.
3. Unknown. Old Oxford 1850-1870, Book 5 of 6. Oxford O.G.S, Woodstock,
Ontario. The Woodstock Baptist College was located on the current
site of the College Avenue Secondary School.
The W.B.C. was founded in 1857 and was first known as the First
Canadian Literary Institute.
In 1883 or 1889 it became the Woodstock Baptist College and served
as a prepatory school for young men. It had originally been started
as a training school for Baptist ministers.
William McMaster, a wealthy Baptist Layman donated a considerable
sum of money to help rebuild the school after a disastrous fire.
The reconstruction was completed in 1862.
In 1873 a separate building was constructed for Ladies and was
called Moulton College.
Teh school had hopes of becoming a University but Senator McMaster
had become instrumental in starting the Toronto Baptist College
which became McMaster University inToronto. In later years it
moved to Hamilton.
The Woodstock College carried on as a college and became the first
co-educational college in Canada. Due to a lack of students it
closed in 1926.
